Charism:  We shall try our best to sanctify ourselves and to promote sanctity in the setting where we are living, particularly among people who are lacks of humanity and Christian, so that the poor might become more human and Christian.                    

Apostolic Works of the congregation: The sisters of Family of Mary of the Visitation go to work and earn a salary like lay people and witnesses of Christ. Their ministries in the United States include work as lay people, in hospitals, help the local church as altar servers, Eucharistic Ministers, office administrator, and Bi-language English and Vietnamese.

Family of Mary of the Visitation is a Secular Institute of Diocesan right, originating in Vietnam. There are 120 members, including 10 in the United States. As faith-filled vowed women, we help people to strengthen their faith and meet social needs, with a preferential option for the poor.

Though being consecrated in an institute, we maintain our lay status, and live in the normal conditions of secular life either living alone, in a family or in a fraternal group voluntarily. We live our consecration in social and professional settings, by taking advantage of good educational opportunities (i.e. science, company, schools and hospitals) to sanctify the world, serve the church community, and infuse them with evangelical energy as leaven in flour. Before entering the initial probation period, we are to embrace a career, which is to be chosen with full freedom and responsibility.
